Summer has arrived

December is here and the berries that are coming out of the garden are somewhat delicious; if your in the area drop by for a flavour bomb.

It was great to see so many people at the garden to see Costa.

For those of you who were unable to make it, Costa who was there to run a workshop on green manuring spent a good hour entertaining the 200 people with inspiring and informative knowledge on ALL things garden related. I hope Costa's passion for growing and sharing food and ideas inspires all of us to continue to nurture our community garden here in Yack as a place to gather, learn, share and be nourished by.

SUMMER GARDEN PARTY

To finish up the year please see the flyer attached and forward the invitation onto others who may enjoy a social gathering in the garden.

There will be kids activities early on and the BBQ and pizza oven will be firing so please bring something for either of these and perhaps a salad or plate to share. Also, BYO your own drinks and chairs. 

 

 

WORKSHOPS
We've had a  great series of workshops throughout 2016 with some of the highlights being the sourdough bread baking, growing mushrooms and Building Bee Hotels. A big thanks to all the presenters and those who helped organise these events. And also to all of you that have attended or helped out in the garden at different times. Every little bit counts! 2017 promises another year of inspiring presenters, workshops and more social events so stay tuned. If you have any workshop or event ideas please let us know.

We are also looking at starting back up a weekly working bee again: there's still heaps of work to do down there. The tricky thing is to find a day that suits those of you who couldn't make the Thursday night session that has been running in the past. So please forward back some suggested times and days that would suit you and we'll do our best to schedule some times that match your suggestions. Remember however, if you can't make these times, your most welcome to drop by the garden whenever you like. There is now a jobs list in the diary at the swap table that you can read and update.

 

AGM

In 2017 we're also looking to formalise the Committee for the Community Garden and will be looking for nominations to join the committee at our AGM early in the year (date to be confirmed). So, if your interested in becoming more involved please let us know.
